Yesterday, being Friday and the end of our yoga week we decided to go out for lunch and chose the Hotel Dasaprakash main Mysore location as our lunch spot. I had been wanting a thali meal and the hotel was near to the post office where Adam had to go to post a birthday gift for his mum, that is a whole story in itself, suffice to say we hope it gets to the UK!
The Dasaprakash is a southern Indian hotel group with a rich history, and this wonderful blog Mysore Musings will give you an idea of the fascinating past it's had hosting Mysore's Royal family and many famous people too, do take a look, there are some great photos and a vast knowledge.

As for the thali itself, one thing we were excited about was the unlimited refills, although I did have my suspicions earlier that a thali in itself is filling enough, we can't help but looking forward to getting more of something we like. The thali was placed down and we were offered ghee on the rice and chapati which we both took and had a look around at what was there. Overall it was pretty much what an Indian restaurant thali offers, little portions of everything and most of it we found to be fine. My favourite was the simple dal.

The yoghurt was excellent, although not included in the free refills, we were charged 14 rupees for another one which all being relative we though a little steep, and although we thought the coffee was included, we were 'stung' for another 30 rupees, with the thalis at 75 rupees each, this brought the total bill to 200 rupees, which for this kind of thing in India is not cheap.
We'd have to say that the Dasaprakash Hotel is worth a trip for the experience, we found it a little heavy but most likely as we are not used to big restaurant meals at lunch, and as with most places here they use too much oil for our daily diet. There is another branch of Dasaprakash nearer to where are staying in Gokolum called the Dasaprakash Paradise Hotel, we will get there soon and add a post so stay tuned for that one.
