About Us

We are a couple that practice Ashtanga yoga regularly and when we're not doing yoga our hobby is food, we met while working at a yoga retreat in Goa, India, where our mutual  interest in food certainly helped with the personal 'click' and has continued to keep us together along the way.
Over the last years we have lived in India, Turkey, Canada, Spain and now back to London where we continue to be inspired by the wide variety of cultures, techniques and ingredients along the way.
We rarely eat in restaurants and if we do it is usually more due to not having facilities to cook rather than by choice.  While in India we often choose local street food as you can see the ingredients before you and watch them being freshly cooked.
Our cooking is now vegan, you will notice that earlier posts contain dairy but not eggs, but with the switch to a plant based diet we feel lighter and clearer in our bodies which is something necessary for our active lifestyle.  It also is more in line with our philosophy of compassion to all living beings.
We love everything about cooking and consider it more of a lifestyle than a hobby, sometimes people may find us over the top about it especially if they are not 'foodie's but here is what we gain from it:
  1. Learning:  food runs deeply through nationalities and histories of food is entwined with the history and culture of a people.
  2. Exploring:  once we've found a new recipe or type of cooking we find ourselves searching the city for unique ingredients and exploring new areas, this also means we are meeting new kinds of people.
  3. Creativity:  cooking the food itself and preparing for presentation is a way to use our creative skills, matching flavours and colours, textures are all part of the satisfaction of preparing a new meal.
  4. Nurturing:  we are very in tune with our bodies through the practice of yoga and the food we cook and eat nurtures us, we can feel the impact during times when we do not have access to a kitchen.
  5. Sharing:  we have cooked for friends and yoga students and sharing home cooked food for many people is not something they often have, we feel that it brings us closer to people, especially if we have cooked something with them in mind and they really enjoy it.
Not everyone would want to spend as much time thinking about food as we do, but if we can inspire anyone to cook for themselves just a little more often then that is a good thing.
